Bangla Type Foundry is a typeface design studio specializing in the Bengali script. We connect an intimate knowledge of Bengali as it is used in Bangladesh with global standards in type design. We strive to build a cooperative type design community in Bangladesh which encourages innovation and research. Bangla Type Foundry is an initiative of Bengal Creative Media Limited.
Jacob Thomas
A citizen of Sweden and USA, Jacob grew up in Bangladesh where he currently lives. He has done postgraduate work in the US in graphic design and intercultural studies, and holds an MA from Savannah College of Art and Design where he focused on Bengali typeface design. He participated in the Type Design Intensive 2016 at Reading University and compulsively documents Bengali hand-lettering. He speaks Bengali fluently.
