A restrained yet original Bengali text family featuring multiple weights, optical sizes & matching Latin. The Varendra family was designed to fill the need for an original yet restrained type family for Bengali book typesetting. The last four decades has only seen a small handful of high quality original Bengali text typefaces designed, most of which have been too obtrusive in the eyes of Bengali readers to be widely adopted. Meanwhile the vast majority of Bengali body text is still set with lower quality fonts which have at best a bold weight but little else typographically to offer.
